Junior & Young Rider Development

One of the fundamental purposes of USA Reining is to educate, prepare and develop our sport's future: Junior & Young Rider athletes.  We at USA Reining take this very seriously, as not only is it vital to the continued success and growth of the sport in the US, but it's so very rewarding.

USA Reining works hard to identify ways to enrich experiences for Junior and Young Riders who have aspirations of representing the United States of America on US Reining Teams as well as encourages events to add Youth classes at the national level.  Our year-end titles of honor include those for three age divisions within the youth segment, and the awards are quite nice....not to mention nation-wide recognition for achievement.

Partnering with one of our founding supporters, the National Reining Horse Association, USA Reining classes offered at NRHA's Affiliate Regional Championships will count towards team-building qualifications for the 2016 FEI Continental Championships (NAJYRC).  Each region should take seriously their role as the birthplace of a competitive team, boosters for the athletes representing that region and the team's effort to bring medals home to the region and the affiliate.  For more information about qualifying classes a each of the NRHA's Affilaite Regional Championship, Refer to our NAJYRC page which outlines simple steps to make your way to the North American championships!

Teams from each region then represent the United State of American at the very prestigious North American Junior & Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC).  Reining is honored to have a place at these important championships and the discipline has a reputation for bringing not only the best athletes and horses but also the most fun.  Reining competitors from past Championships have routinely stated that it was the most fun and most important event they've ever participated in their Reining career.

..and all an interested rider needs to do to in order to hear about the importance of representing your nation, is just to ask one of the past adult US gold medalists about their experience.  There is nothing like it in the world.  The North American Junior & Young Rider Championships are a key starting point for the international stage and a great training ground for future world champions and international gold medalists.
